Applications
Poundfield’s
Brick Faced Wall Panel is designed to
provide a fast and economical solution
to retaining wall problems. Using a unique
prestressed Brick-Faced Concrete Wall
Panel in conjunction with Poundfield’s
L Bloc®, retaining walls of up to
1.8m high per section can be achieved
with insitu bases
required at only 6.0m centres.
Designed in accordance
with BS8110 (Structural Use of Concrete)
and BS 8002 (Earth Retaining Structures)
and manufactured from high strength C60
concrete, the units provide excellent
durability against most exposure conditions
(up to severe conditions as defined in
BS 8110).
Design Assumptions
The walls have
been designed to retain a well-drained
material with a bulk density of 16 KN/m3
and internal angle of friction of 350.
It has also been assumed that the fill
is level with the top of the wall and
that a maximum surcharge load of 10 KN/m3
is imposed at this level.
All connection between
the various components are made with grade
304 stainless steel bolts to ensure long
term performance.
Ground Conditions
The wall panel
and the stabilising L Bloc must be placed
on insitu concrete bases provided at 6.0m
centres. The size of the base to be provided
is dependent on site-specific ground conditions
and should be verified by a qualified
engineer. An indication of the base sizes
and requirements is given in the table
below.
In all conditions
it is assumed that the load bearing strata
is well-drained and that the back of the
wall is backfilled with a granular material.
.
Please refer to Poundfield’s Technical
Department for any conditions outside
the assumptions stated above.
