Prestressed ‘L’ blocs are freestanding wall units, offering an ideal design solution for the retention/storage of soils, aggregates, silage, grain etc. Standard wall units are produced up to 3.65m in height but for special orders they can be made up to 6m in height. All units are designed to accommodate loading from either side of the wall.
Designed in accordance with BS8110 (Parts 1&2) ‘L’ blocs have a prestressed concrete stem. This provides the advantage of a much lighter unit than than a conventionally reinforced one with the added benefits of reduced transport and installation costs.
Manufactured from high strength C60 concrete with minimum 30mm cover to steel, the units provide excellent durability against most exposure conditions (up to very severe conditions in accordance with BS 8110).
The units require a suitable concrete foundation that has been designed by a qualified Engineer to ensure ground bearing and stability requirements are met. Units are then lined and levelled and bolted down through the 4 preformed holes in the base using resin anchors.
A unique tongue and groove joint down each side prevents misalignment of the walls either during installation or due to uneven loading. It also provides an ideal joint detail for sealing should a watertight wall be required.

2M L-bloc – 2M wide freestanding retaining wall units
The prestressed interlocking 2.0m L-bloc shares all the attributes of the 1 m L-bloc with the added advantages of taking half the time to install the same length of wall as it would with the 1m. This product also allows us to be able to quote very competitively for long runs of walling. However it must be noted that a fork lift truck capable of lifting the extra weight involved and with longer tines must be provided on site for installation.
